Okay, so because it's part of The Good Dream Maker, this piece is a little. . . experimental. So, yes, the changing verb tense is intentional.

ReplyDeleteLately I've been really interested in how to write a fragmented mind, like someone who's deep in grief (like your character) or who has a mental illness or anxiety or depression or something. You've done a great job. *frantically takes notes* I really want to try using the words and the page, like:

You know I have a whole lotta love for the Cycle of Yesterdays and this was beautiful like the other two! I loved the tense thing and the fragmented-ness and just all of it! Jonny and Luke. All of it.
