I have a ton of books at home. But I was bad and picked out random books at the library.
The Lightning Thief by- guess who?
Rump, The True Story of Rumpelstiltskin by Liesl Shurtliff
Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman (The cover! What beauty is this? A dragon. . . And it's blue and shiny!)
2. Book/series you would like to see as a movie?
They need to remake The Princess Bride. Yes the original will always be a classic. But now they have CGI and stuff. . . think what wonders they could do with that movie. The Cliffs of Insanity. The ROUSs! The Machine!
3. Overhyped book/author?
Eh, I'm going with jo's answer.
The Fault in Our Stars.
I know. Please don't shoot me. But- it just-
I'm not even going to try.
4. The best book series you ever read?
The Ascendance Trilogy by Jennifer A. Nielsen is my new favorite. I haven't read the last one yet though.
Also Divergent by Veronica Roth, but I think that's a well known fact.
5. Book to movie adaption that was really bad?
The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Emmuska Orczy. Just don't watch it. I don't know what happened in the movie. But it wasn't the story that I read.
6. Books that just made you cry?
The Hunger Games by Suzzanne Collins

I mostly cried during the movie Catching Fire though in the theater. Unashamedly. Mostly because I knew what was going to happen, and I could feel what the characters felt, and it was real.

I wrote in the margins of this book. I never write in books, but I had do something! I seriously cried over this one. It'd be nice to say I'm hardhearted and unmoving. But when it's sad, it sad, guys! I usually don't cry, actually, but this book. . .
7. Book you're reading right now? Quick rating?
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. 4/5 It's funny and a good MG.
8. A book series that you just didn't like?
I don't encounter that often.
The only thing I can think of is- you all are going to hate me- The Series of Unfortunate Events. I loved Lemony Snicket's style. It was hilarious and fresh to me. But it was so depressing. When I was a green little fourteen year old, I couldn't read depressing books or else I would mope around all week with a headache. I even kept on through the second book, and nope, just couldn't do it.
9. Book you haven't read yet, but really need to?

The Two Towers and The Return of the King by Tolkien. I write fantasy, people. This is something I must read!
A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. I want to read this so badly. But it's a thick and daunting book. Plus everywhere I go, I see the other books in the series, but never the first one. What's up with that?
10. What was the first book you really loved?
Oh, Say Can You Say? by Dr. Seuss
I read this thing over and over out loud whether I had anybody to read to or not. I could read all the tongue twisters to near perfection, and I still have some of it memorized.

These are terrible tongue twisters!"

Rue was so cool and Cinna was the best!I loved how both of them connected to Katniss especially Cinna :)
I felt so awful when he died both in movie and the book.The movie one was more bad because it felt more personal watching him die in front of my eye instead of just reading it D:
You know TFIOS is an over rated book and movie.Half the people read it because it's the new cool thing to do not because they like to read or anything.I'm not a big fan of it either :P
I've never seen or read Princess Bride xD (Is it good?What's it about?)
I fell in love with Harry Potter! :D
And I couldn't stand Twilight I absolutely hate that book :P
I'd love to see more of Stephen King's work on screen or even a good movie based on Dan Brown's books would be great :D

The Princess Bride is a book by William Goldman. It is hilarious! Very satirical. But a lot of people have trouble getting through it because they try to begin with the introduction. If it's to tedious, I suggest to people to just begin when it says "Chapter 1, The Bride." It's a movie too, but it's kind of old. You should read the book though. It's so funny.
I've never read Twilight. I heard the writing wasn't that great. :P
There is a Rumpelstiltskin book, I want it. Was the first book to 'Shadow Scale' ,Seprihina or something was it good. I was going to buy it because dragons. Yes, yes 'Fault in Our Stars' was so over hyped Love 'The Lighting Thief'. Don't feel bad for not liking 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' everyone has different taste, and I am one of those people that has a rather dark sense of humor. 'Return of the King' is an epic conclusion to the series. I've heard a lot about Game of Thrones, but I heard the show was like 'Lord of the Ring's' with porn, so I figured the book would be much of the same. I could be wrong though :)
ReplyDeleteYes, Shadow Scale is the sequel to Seraphina. I haven't read it yet. But Seraphina, I know, is amazing! The writing is just beautiful.

My sister loves Rump! What a fun tag, even if our book tastes are kind of opposite =) Not a huge PJO fan and was majorly let down after the first Divergent and definitely thought Hunger Games was overhyped. But, I'll admit, loved TFIOS as well as Series of Unfortunate Events. Still have to read The Giver, though, as well as the LOTR books! =)

ReplyDeleteI have been on a two-month hiatus but I have missed your blog and am so glad to be back! How are you? I hope you're well etc. How is school/college/whatever?
I too just had a Percy Jackson reread (was yours a reread? That's the impression I got, but was I wrong?). I read the first three last week, and loved them just as much as my 10-year-old self did. I never actually finished the series; they were coming out once a year and I managed to slip off the bandwagon, as it were, but I fully intend to read them all now.
I really would like to read The Giver. I've heard great things about it.
I reeeaaaaallly want to read The Ascendance Trilogy; they look like 100% my kind of books! I don't know if my library has them (sob) but if I ever see the first one in a secondhand shop I'll be snapping it right up.
As for Shadow Scale, the cover is very pretty. And shiny.
YOU MUST READ GAME OF THRONES! I am aware I have indulged in cap locks raves here before, but seriously. What a series. Yeah, sure, it will leave your head spinning and your feels bloodied and battered - but isn't that just the bookish life?

The Giver is awesome! It's a pretty easy, fly-by read too. I think I read it in about two days, and I'm a slow reader.
Yes! Read the Ascendance Trilogy! It is pure genius. And it's hilarious. I love the characters so much. And they're not long either, and there's always something happening.
Game of Thrones is under consideration. ;)

DeleteThe Giver is actually kind of like the first dystopian book. It existed before the word "dystopian." Isn't that so cool? To create a new genre!? You should read it. You can definitely see where today's dystopian formula and (unfortunately now) cliches come from. But at it's time, it was new. It was cliched at all. That just blows my mind.
Haha, it is quite awesome! It's a good language. Not least for understanding the names of spells in Harry Potter!

*sniffs* I AM OFFENDED ON SO MANY LEVELS HERE, ASHELY. ;-))) Okaaaay, I joke. I shall just skip past the TFIOS growls and the Lemony Snicket headaches (omg my poor heart) BUT OMG YOU CANNOT MEAN YOU'D LIKE A PRINCESS BRIDE REMAKE!! THAT IS A CLASSIC!! ;-) Seriously, I don't even think I'd go watch a remake because the classic is just the world to me. hehe. But ohhh, you HAVE to try Game of Thrones if you get the chance someday!! I put it off forever, but it's phenomenal and the character development is amazing. It's worth it, I promise. ;-) Because food. Also lots of food.

DeleteThe Princess Bride will always, always be a classic. But there were so many good book lines that got left out of the movie. If they remade it and put more book in the movie- It would be even more amazing! But the movie already has some fantastic acting in- How do you replace that!? (*cough* recruit Hiddleston *cough*) If they remade it, I would watch them both back to back.
You mean to tell me that this political fantasy has fabulous food? I would've never guessed! Your skills of persuasion are very strong.
