Starting Sparks: September // Survey Results // Music Monday

Hello, everyone! August bordered on insanity. . . so September is insanity. I know this is supposed to be the introduction, but I stink at introductions.

.

You remember that survey I made for you? Well, I thought you might enjoy seeing the results! I guess most bloggers do pie charts. I hate graphs in any form. Apparently, pie charts are fun? So I'll allow you at least one.

 Pie Chart.:

 You're welcome.

Also, I'm linking up with Lauren @ Always Me for Music Monday. One of my Switchfoot albums cracked, so in memory of my Learning to Breathe, here's the title track.

Thank you for actually doing the survey! The six of you. You're awesome.

Only two of admitted to being a strawberry croissant. *high fives* You're cool with me.

Surprisingly, 4:6 [or two-thirds] of you like reviews. I don't even post reviews often. So maybe I ought to do more?

How many of you like blue for the blog color? It was a 2:2:2 split [sssh, you can split a pie thirds].

A third of you are suspicious Erudites.
[These are the cool kids.]

A third of you think blue is a sad color.
[ O.o How did you wind up here?]

A third of you think blue is sad for deep people; therefore, blue is ideal.
[You-- I like you.]

Someone thinks I should get a schedule for my posts and be normal. Normal?! No way. Have you seen normal people these days?

Or should we consider if normal even exists?

I'll share a few of the books you recommended so that everyone can check them out.

The Blackthorn by Kevin Sands
Howl's Moving Castle
Chaos Walking by Patrick Ness
The Unwind series by Neal Shusterman
The Lies of Lamora
Jackaby
The Goldfinch
Harry Potter
The Great Gatsby
How Green was My Valley
Skulduggery Pleasant

I'm excited to look into some of these!

By of way, we're all dragons here, excluding the normal person. [Don't worry, we love you too.]

[I'm about to share the whole album with you.]

Things You Associate with [insert title here]

blue and Sherlock gifs
Thank you. *bows*

happiness, Sherlock, and friendship
Aw! Thank you! *hugs*

books, Beautiful People posts, and your comments everywhere
I'm not sure what the comment about my comments mean? But thanks!

Starting Sparks and Oddball
AH! You actually remember Oddball and Co.! You rock. :)

[I'll have to summarize this one. . .]

absolute hilarity, comments make my day, I love Oddball, Calvin and Hobbes/Sherlock gif usage good
Thank you so much! Everything, even the other things too. :D *hugs*

You all are the best! We're like a really small gang. . . OF ASGARDIAN WARRIORS!

...

Most all of you understand that reference. But only one of you shared your favorite fandoms? I would love to hear what you have to say about the things you enjoy. Tell me in the comments!

So under the advice/suggestions section someone mentioned changing the blog background from blue to white. I've been mulling over exactly that since January. I like my blog blue because, well, I like blue. Also I follow a lot of people who have white backgrounds, and I love their blogs, including the blog design. But sometimes I want a change; I need something different. For me, the white is really bright. Maybe I'm just weird. So I decided to have a blue blog so I could be the something different that I wanted. Buuut, as the Mystery Woman mentioned, white is cleaner and more professional. So I compromised. Light blue is still blue, but almost white, right?

Someone else said YOU ROCK! I'm not sure if that's advice [unless you want me to keep rocking]? But who cares? YOU ROCK TOO!

Thank you again for taking the survey! You all rock.

Also, Emily @ Ink, Inc. and I have a new Starting Sparks prompt for you! Sorry I'm slacking on the prompt side of things.
Here's your button:

And here's the prompt for September!

  1. Thanks for linking up with me! That's always the worst when a favorite album cracks.

Normal people are so adorable, and very boring.

  2. We really are like a small gang ;)
No please don't ever be normal, I have lost most of my friends to the pursuit of normalcy. It's not worth it.
I like the blue, blue blogs are pretty cool, beside everyone is going white this month. Even I did :P, so be different. Embrace your awesomeness!

Don't worry. It won't ever happen. ;) We geeks and freaks must stick together, yes?

      Blue rocks! Thank you!

    1. XD Don't panic so much. It's no big deal. And you did do the survey, if you're still wondering.

That pie chart is the only pie chart I like! And it's quite accurate.

  4. It seems like most bloggers/writers are Erudites or Ravenclaws (I also test as Divergant whenever I take the "what faction are you" tests, and I'm a mix of Sltheryn and Ravenclaw)

Thanks for stopping by Writing on a Vintage Typewriter!

  5. "August bordered on insanity. . . so September is insanity." What an opener. I'm enjoying Learning To Breathe. (Also, I have a Switchfoot related story which I'll share in an email sometime.) Reading through my book recs is like seeing my kids and waving at them from a car as I drive past ... hello children :3

I love that someone associates SS with you, like, maybe I can dare to hope that it is at least permeating a couple of people's consciousnesses??? Ha. I was chatting to a friend the other day and I mentioned something about writing an SS story or something (or something, or something else ... actually I know what I said, I said, "SS is turning one in October! Can you believe it?!). And she was like oh yeah cool so has it taken off? How many linkers do you get? And I was like, usually? Except us two who host? ... Like two ... But I went on to say that I am not, in fact, discouraged, because for me anyway it's been a joy this past year and therefore no way in vain!

"[I'll have to summarize this one. . .]" made me feel special. I am summarised! I am the summer! (Or something. Summ-thing?? I don't know, Ashley, maybe I should stop trying to make jokes and just be normal ...)

As ever, Sherlock gif A*. I watched that episode the other night actually and that particular line made me lol. (Also, I love how watching the gif you can see Ben's accent! Does that make sense?? It does to me ... but my parentheses are not making much sense this comment ... On the topic of parentheses, I'm v much enjoying this new square brackets thing.)

    Lots of love,
    The Mystery Woman xx

    1. You actually caught that one!? I'm so happy. Someone got my pun! I should feel pathetic for being so pleased by this. *cough* Anyway. I'm glad you like Learning to Breathe. Just listen to the whole album! (Oo, really? I can't wait to hear it!) I'll try to take good care of your book rec kids.

I know, me too. It is a good exercise even if few people take part. I enjoy it at least. But gosh, I didn't realize SS would be one in October!? It's already been a year!

My friend, DON'T YOU DARE EVER BE NORMAL! Don't do that to yourself. Just keep being yourself and the summer. ;)

I love that line in that episode. It's so perfect. I guess I relate too much to it. (AH! Yes, I know exactly what you mean about seeing his accent in the gif. I normally hear him saying it when I see it. And I'm glad you like the brackets thing. I figured since the title is in brackets I could use brackets in my post as a branding thing? I know very little about branding, but at least I'm trying.)

  6. Haha! I love that pie chart! It's the best. :D Another thing I associate with Insert Title Here is Swtichfoot! It's a great band.

Also, I wanted to let you know that I tagged for the Small is Beautiful blog tag over at my blog, O Ye Scribes . :)

    1. Switchfoot! Indeed, they are my favorite. :) I'm glad to find a fellow fan. I usually just get weird looks or shrugs from people when I say I like them.

Oo, thank you! I'll check it out.
